Initial Electronic Security held its inaugural apprentice of the year ceremony to celebrate its 18-month old, in-house training centre in Blackburn.
Representatives from Aritech, PAC, Norbain and Ziton, who have all provided support for Initial’s training facility, were at the ceremony to congratulate the apprentices on achieving excellence in their fields.

Robert Henning, from Portsmouth, was named Apprentice of the Year. Training centre manager David Millett said: “Robert is a great example of the high standards that we can achieve with our Modern Apprenticeship scheme. Since we took our training back in-house last year, we have simply gone from strength to strength.”

Initial’s training centre works closely with Lancashire’s Learning Skills Council and it is now one of the few fully accredited centres in the industry.

Mr Millett continued: “The achievements we have been celebrating would not have been possible without the close support of our suppliers, some of whom have provided their own training staff to give our apprentices supplementary training on particular products.”

Abdus Wadee, work-based learning manager of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) Lancashire, said: “Ever since Initial Electronic Security entered into a direct contract with LSC Lancashire, they have become a good quality training provider with excellent teaching capabilities. They have developed a strong mentoring and pastoral support strategy and we are very pleased to be working with them.”
