RUSI and CitySafe are launching a joint venture – designated the T3 Network – to help bridge the communications gap that presently exists between Government agencies, emergency services and the business world.

The partnership will couple an enhanced version of CitySafe’s secure extranet and messaging system with a programme of briefings and meetings to be convened by RUSI.

“There’s a layer of business that doesn’t quite qualify as Critical National Infrastructure, but which has substantial concerns over terrorism and other threats to resilience,” explained Dr Sandra Bell, director of RUSI’s Homeland Security and Resilience Department. “T3 will provide an opportunity for business to engage Government agencies and the emergency services in a two-way, solutions-oriented dialogue, both on and off-line.”

Based within the London Resilience Team (LRT) Business Sub-Committee, the current CitySafe partnership includes the Corporation of London and the City of London Police.

Nick Beale – CitySafe’s director and a secondee to LRT – added: “We are in the process of expanding the cross-sector approach with a view to including new groups such as property managers, major venue managers and transport and infrastructure providers.”
