A scheme to regenerate 3000 hectares of the Tees Valley was launched at the sustainable communities summit in Manchester on Tuesday.

The Stockton-Middlesbrough Initiative includes the £300m regeneration of Stockton’s North Shore waterfront, which will have 480 homes. Phase one of the scheme, which includes a pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Tees, will begin in 2006.
