Supertrucks Ltd has delivered three coachbuilt glass carrying vehicles to Techniglass Ltd, one of the largest manufacturers of glass double-glazed units in Wales.
The new Supertrucks bodied 26 tonne gvw day-cabbed DAF CF75 6x2 5.6m wheel base chassis can carry both glass in stillages and long glazed units.
For Techniglass, Supertrucks developed a 7.95m long van body with a curtainside opening on the nearside and a solid body on the off side. Mounted on the off side is a 4m long anodised aluminium glass carrying rack that uses Supertrucks’ System 2 securing poles. To provide protection, it is covered by a full height/length fully tensioned side curtain with stainless steel overcentre buckles.
The internal dimensions allow up to five stillages to be loaded across the width and up to five of the largest stillages used by Techniglass along its length. The bodies have heavy duty steel subframes, with close pitch (407mm) cross bearers and 22mm Safadeck laminated flooring with inset stillage anchorage points. The body subframe is also stressed to carry a demountable forklift.
