SummitSkills chair Simon Bartley commented: “The granting of this five-year licence demonstrates the desire for all the employers in the industries making up the sector to work together to ensure that the employees and clients get the skilled labour force that they need to profitably produce top quality work for the 21st century.”
SummitSkills has been in operation throughout its development phase and intends to continue its work with employers to address the ongoing skills and training issues. Chief executive Keith Marshall confirmed: “[Our licence] provides access to far greater leverage issues and the ability to exert real influence on national skills policy.”
The SSC is currently recruiting staff around the UK to build up to full operational capacity.
