19% back BNP man

RIBA’s presidential election has produced some controversial and embarrassing results for the organisation. Although the winning candidate is from an ethnic background, 19% of the RIBA’s polled members voted for BNP affiliated Peter Phillips whose political connections came under media scrutiny three days after the ballot opened. On his website Phillips said that 19% is what the BNP “reasonably expects” to poll in middle class areas. Click here for more.

Power struggle at Battersea

Battersea Power Station developer Parkview International has lost its two top executives as uncertainty troubles the development. Michael Roberts and Michael Russel have both left the company after, it is thought, they fell out with the owner of Parkview, Victor Hawg. Problems over the future funding of the scheme have arisen because no retailers could sign a final agreement unless there is a guaranteed date when work will start and finish. Click here for more.

Currie & Brown has announced a major overhaul of its business as it tries to fend off rumours that it is about to be sold to a rival firm. Euan McEwan, group chief executive officer, has said that the overhaul was to strengthen the position of Currie & Brown as a multi-disciplinary company. However, rumours of a takeover persist.
