Digital control
IndigoVision is showing what it claims to be the world's first truly scalable digital CCTV control center. The VideoBridge Control Centre is a professional CCTV application aimed at managing live video and audio over IP networks. The out-of-the-box product is said to be easy to install, cost-effective and scalable, allowing administrators to use the system without changing the way they work, while adding advanced capabilities such as remote management of multiple geographical sites, real-time viewing with uninterrupted recording and interoperability with networked or analogue-based devices.
According to Oliver Vellacott, chief executive officer at IndigoVision, the product allows hundreds of cameras to be installed, while bringing together the benefits of analogue and digital technology. Large-scale installations such as airports, stadia and city centres can manage the system centrally via a traditional control room or remotely, with many users able to view and record from any point on the network. Digital feeds can also be made available to off-site security personnel, police and emergency services for simultaneous viewing, interpretation or use in potential prosecutions.

Virtual matrix
Mavix, based in Israel, is exhibiting at IFSEC and will be revealing its pioneering work in digital surveillance over IP networks. Its integrated surveillance solution is based on a virtual matrix architecture. This enables an unlimited number of video/audio and data sources to be dynamically distributed over IP networks to an unlimited number of targets, while featuring full motion, full screen, high quality video.
The MediaRacer 1000 uses Wavelet compression to answer these needs. Operators decide on the bandwidth of up to 9 Mbps, the number of frames per second and the depth of compression. With latency of around 150 milliseconds, and unique pre and post alarm recording, the unit also copes with analogue video. Video is transmitted over UDP/IP allowing easy streaming of the video and offering multicast as a standard feature.

Freedom to display
Myriad Technologies is demonstrating what's claimed to be a product that will revolutionise the way in which retail products are displayed. The electronic security product, called Freedom, is also a finalist in the Security Industry Awards and is said to move forward conventional thinking on radio frequency identification (RFID) by adapting the technology to monitor items within its surveillance field, rather than those that are passed by it. When a display item is removed, it can trigger alarms, activate CCTV or simply notify sales staff that there is an interested customer.
The patented system can monitor a number of items using uniquely coded tags and opens up a new world of possibilities for retail designers and merchandisers by leaving behind the cables and wires of traditional retail security.

Voice on the network
SyAC lays claim to a first at IFSEC with the introduction of voice over IP networks combined with dedicated data compression and user-friendly software. The DigiEye was first launched in 1996, but now with the addition of voice recording and transmission, it can listen as well as watch and provides an integrated solution by combining digital recording, audio, motion detection, matrix switching, telemetry, transmission, alarms and event handling.
The DigiEye's operational set-up is simple. When alerted by sound or movement it records in a format that enables easy retrieval of events via the Graphical User Interface. Remote access is also available via PSTN, ISDN, ADSL and IP Networks.
SyAC also provides a complete central station solution with advanced alarm and event handling, enabling full remote control of sites for automatic patrols, duplex audio, remote engineering and fault reports. The company's DigiEye Release 3, launched last year, incorporated an audit trail facility with an exportable log of every activity, even unauthorised movement of cameras. The introduction of voice recording is a major advance that pushes the frontiers of CCTV even further.

Transmitting in colour
Centurion Systems' sole UK distributor, Crown Axxess, is launching a colourful range of transmitters (below) at IFSEC.
The Centurion transmitters have been transformed into a bright, robust and affordable range in a variety of systems, including rolling code, dip-switch or self-learning with 1-4 buttons.
The receivers are also available with up to four channels. Each channel can be selected for either latching or non-latching output. The receivers use stable, narrow-band technology to ensure reliable reception.
Centurion's SUPA SMART receiver meets the growing demand for multi-user remote control access systems. The system has a capacity for up to 1,000 individual users or up to 1,600 users set up in groups. Useful features include three output channels, greater flexibility and power. Any transmitter button can be programmed to operate any channel.
The company is also introducing a time barring and data logging unit, the CHRONOLOG, to increase the capability of the SUPA SMART receiver. The module comes with its own software to configure the time-barring information on a PC. This information is then downloaded to the CHRONOLOG. In addition, the most current 1,024 transactions can be uploaded from the CHRONOLOG to the PC and the information manipulated in various ways. 'Real-time' transactions can be recorded on a dot-matrix printer by connecting the printer to the CHRONOLOG module.
