Stop passing the buck

My residents’ association is shocked by the story “Landlords to escape legal duty to deal with bad neighbours” (24 October, page 11). RSLs must be held accountable by tenants for the damage caused by failures to act against antisocial tenants. People’s lives are damaged overnight by associations repeatedly placing unsuitable tenants in some areas. We have found that in the past, tenants have had to suffer (in one case) up to three years to solve these nuisance problems.

RSL tenants need more accountability, not less as this misconceived plan will allow.
