I read with sympathy Gordon Henderson's letter ‘CIOB fails members in Scotland'.
Gordon is well known to Glasgow Caledonian University, as a past graduate he has always
been a fine ambassador for our programmes and our industry.
Gordon's view is one I have heard repeated by many local authority part-time students. Others
in a similar position to Gordon should attend the CIOB's Scottish AGM on 24 May at the university.
I wish to assure Gordon, and others like him, that when our School of the Built and Natural Environment recruits academic staff to a range of disciplines, the MCIOB accolade is essentially a ‘position specification' requirement and is viewed as a gold standard badge of professionalism. So don't leave the Institute - there are employers who value your chartered builder achievement.
I wish Gordon, and others like him, well in their campaign.
