SPIE has announced it has acquired the building and facilities services arm of Amec.

Initial agreements were signed on 3 August and were finalised on 14 September after employee representatives were consulted in the UK and France.

SPIE Matthew Hall will provide multi-technical engineering services from initial design through mechanical and electrical installation services to long-term facilities management.

It will operate across a wide range of market sectors for clients with specialised requirements for highly engineered facilities.

SPIE Matthew Hall has extensive operations in the UK, with offices in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Darlington and Manchester. It has more than 2300 employees.

Sales for 2006 came close to €500 million, with profits of €15 million.
