The service provided by m&e maintenance firm TEMS has been revolutionised by the use of a PDA solution.
With paper-based job sheets leading to customer and engineer dissatisfaction, Total Electrical & Mechanical Services (TEMS) decided it was time for change. In order for the firm to continue developing, the need for a streamlined, proactive way to arrange jobs, staff and clients was identified.
In consultation with LetsComIT, the Croydon-based firm chose to implement a total solution of customer database, job scheduler and personal digital assistant (PDA) solution. Working with partner InterNETalia, LetsComIT produced a solution customised to TEMS’ business needs.
InterNetalia’s AccuServ call management system is now used to log job information as calls are taken. Integrating with an industry-specific database provided by its partners, LetsComIT developed a scheduling system whereby logged jobs are immediately assigned to an engineer. Jobs are colour-coded on the system to indicate their status so management can have a complete overview of the workforce at all times.
The PDA solution allows the information to be sent to engineers on the road via a handheld device. Job details and work forms can be created, completed and sent back to the TEMS customer database via the PDA, immediately updating records.
