HVCA Publications has launched its ‘Guide to good practice: Mothballing and re-commissioning of buildings’ – claimed to be the first of its kind in the UK.
The guide offers advice to building managers, facilities managers and landlords about putting properties into ‘sleep’ mode. It defines best practice in shutdown procedures for buildings and building services plants, including the safety and security of the property and interim maintenance. Written by the HVCA’s Service and Facilities Group, the guide comprises an easy to reference set of task schedules suitable for inclusion in logbooks.
Importantly, the guide also covers the safe and efficient restoration of a building to full function – something that is imperative to cost-effective and sustainable operation.
