Sketch of the week: Hualien Marble Hotel

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by architect Gianni Botsford, and is an early concept for the Hualien Marble Hotel in Taiwan. He says: “The area used to be the centre for marble extraction in Taiwan but is now a processor of imported marble from China, which we sought to express in a series of abstracted stacking marble blocks. Hualien is the stop-off point for the Taroko Gorge, an extraordinary place carved out over millions of years through a marble mountain.”
