Simon says: The lord mayor of Belfast, councillor Martin Morgan, launched a strategy last week aimed at tackling Northern Ireland’s growing homelessness problem. Addressing Homelessness was written by the Simon Community, Northern Ireland’s leading homelessness charity, and sets out a seven-point plan for reversing current increases in homelessness levels. The incidence of the problem in the area is nearly double that of England – last year almost 23,000 people in Northern Ireland were classed as homeless.
