Air buffer and leaf spring help to dampen juddering

Bosch has introduced a 4 kg rotary and demolition hammer that provides high power but little vibration, says the maker.

The GBH 4-32 DFR Professional weighs 4.7 kg, has a 900 watt motor and provides a single impact force of five joules. It has been specially designed for drilling 14 mm to 25 mm-diameter holes in concrete, although using core cutters up to 90 mm through masonry is equally straightforward. The tool can also be used for chiselling.

Vibration control is a fundamental part of the hammer’s design. The result is a vibration value of just 8 m/s2.

Damping vibration is achieved in two stages. First, a large air buffer reduces the air pressure in the tool. Second, a leaf spring and two swivel joints decouple the main handle from the machine.

Drilling in metal or wood is also possible with the hammer, as the SDS-plus tool holder can be easily replaced by the quick-change chuck included.

The GBH 4-32 DFR is available in two versions. The first is the straight drill plus quick-change chuck.

The second, the MultiDrill, includes a range of accessories including a self-cut wrap, multiconstruction set, a point and flat chisel, hole-saw adaptor with three progressor hole saws, and four SDS-Plus drill bits.
