Charity Shelter has launched a campaign to tackle homelessness among lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
It is working with Stonewall Housing, part of gay rights pressure group Stonewall.
The project aims to improve the way councils and registered social landlords tackle gay people’s housing.
It will provide training and consultancy for housing providers.
And it will produce a monitoring model to encourage them to monitor the sexuality of their clients.
The scheme will focus on homelessness caused by family breakdown, homophobia and domestic violence.
Joanne Marks, national development manager at Shelter, said: “This initiative has been set up to address an area that is often neglected in the housing field.”
Jackie Fernandez, director of Stonewall Housing, said: “The project is an exciting opportunity for Shelter and Stonewall Housing to tackle some of these issues together by combining the expertise of both organisations.”
