Tavcom Training has launched a one day workshop for CCTV engineers. The course (TE1) will teach students to set up and test a basic CCTV system. It will be conducted at two venues – at Tavcom's Hampshire Training Centre and in Preston, Lancashire and all the equipment for the "hands-on" practical day will be provided.

Delegates will be provided with test equipment and a range of cameras, lenses, quads, multiplexers and VCRs.

The sessions will cover: focusing, cable run testing, terminations and connections, calibrating equipment, voltage readings with multimeters and video signal checking.

Another session includes setting up and installing four cameras to a multiplexer and VCR loop through to a quad unit and displaying the pictures on a selection of colour and monochrome monitors.

The final session shows students how to add an alarm connection to enable the VCR to switch from time lapse to real time, recording through a multiplexer, fault finding and customer handover.

Dates: (at Tavcom Training Centre): May 30, July 13, September 18 and November 20, cost £155 +VAT; (at Preston): June 13, August 1, October 10, December 12, cost £195+VAT.
