An ex-Lewis’ store is to be transformed into high grade office space in a £7 million design and build for SES.

SES has been awarded a £7 million m&e design and installation contract for the restoration of 22-26 The Headrow, in the heart of Leeds city centre.

Originally built in the 1930s for department store Lewis’, the building has long been considered a significant landmark within the city.

Once refurbished, the space will house three floors of retail space and a further four floors of office space. An additional six individual office units will be built on the roof.

The team will be installing traditional services for the project, including rooftop plant equipment, sprinkler systems and ancillary services.

Intelligent lighting, high & low voltage installations and feature lighting will also feature prominently within the project.

SES will begin work on the project in October, joining key building contractor Wates Construction, who began the demolition works back in February.
