The South-east England Regional Assembly has, in fact, taken a positive overall view of the interim Barker Report (“SEERA slates ‘politically unwise’ Barker review growth targets”, 6 February, page 14).

As one of some 10 points we made, we did question the basis and value of the levels of housebuilding she postulated, but she recognised herself that these were no more than extrapolations of the possible consequences of action on prices, as well as a wider range of other factors.

To single out one point in this way does not reflect the balanced approach the assembly has taken on this important report.
