Securicor Cash Services – in conjunction with the GMB Trade Union – has become the first security company to be awarded a grant from the DTI’s Partnership Fund. The grant will contribute towards the cost of a joint project to improve employee relations and strengthen communication between the two organisations.
Following the difficult period of negotiations between the company and the union in the first quarter of 2003 (as widely reported in the national media), this somewhat radical initiative would appear to mark the resolve of both parties to work together for the benefit of Securicor and its employees.

A joint project – aptly entitled ‘Working Together’ – will include a series of facilitated workshops for Securicor Cash Services’ managers and union representatives. The purpose is to create individual relationships fostering more open dialogue, thus allowing employees to become more involved in (and committed to) current and future changes in the business.

Securicor faced tough competition to become one of the four successful applicants from the south east to benefit from the £100,000 DTI project fund. Under the initiative – up-and-running since 1999 – winners can receive up to a maximum of £50,000 from the Government to pay for anything up to 50% of total project costs.
