Building Services Engineering now has a voice in Westminster after the establishment of the All Party Parliamentary Building Services Engineering Group earlier this month.
The group was set up to inform government policy relating to the building services industry, to raise the profile of the sector and to discuss issues relating to training.
Another objective of the group will be to highlight the contribution that can be made to sustainability and energy efficiency by the building services profession and to encourage a cohesive political approach towards the sector.
Issues taken up by the group include: rogue traders, the revised Building Regulations, the DTI’s review of the Construction Act and the challenge posed by the 2012 London Olympics building programme.
The group is chaired by Labour MP and chartered engineer Claire Curtis-Thomas.
Administrative support will be provided by the HVCA.
