Daniel Glew, a 19-year-old apprentice working for SEC in Chichester, is this year’s winner of the ECA Edmundson Award.

Daniel’s triumph, against competition from nearly 1000 other eligible apprentices, was announced at the 31st Apprentice of the Year luncheon, hosted by Douglas McNair, managing director of Edmundson Electrical.

To win the award, Daniel had first to achieve a high rate in his City and Guild exams and a mark of above 95% in the industry skills test. He then faced a regional interview and interrogation by a final judging panel.

Daniel’s prize includes a £1000 cheque and a week-long trip to France and Sweden as a guest of Thorn Lighting. The other apprentices that were successful in reaching the final stages of the competition have received awards at local presentations hosted by Edmundson Electrical regional directors.
