10:30AM Roofing merchant launches competition to find best greasy spoon establishment beloved of the construction industry

A competition has been launched this week to find the best traditional 'British Caff'. Roofing merchant Roofshop came up with the idea to protect the establishment which it claims with the advent of new European style coffee outlets "is soon to be a dying breed". "Loved by the British tradesmen and builder, the traditional 'caff' has become iconic within the construction industry," the firm added.

Café customers will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite café by handing in their nomination forms into their nearest Roofshop branch. The firm claims to have received 300 nominations so far for great greasy spoons.

Eight successful cafes, all proving that they have the 'sizzle factor', will be named as regional winner, and will then be invited to an awards luncheon held at London Zoo of March next year, where the carefully selected café within the UK will win the coveted title of 'Britain's Best Caff'.
