Issues with controlling access to peripheral buildings beyond the main terminal at the East Midlands Airport have been solved thanks to card readers connected over a radio modem link.
  • Access control

The specific issue to be addressed lay in ensuring that only those authorised to be airside are entitled to be so (in line with legislation dictating that airports must be able to monitor anyone moving into a restricted zone).

SDA Protec's solution was to use a development of the airport's existing access infrastructure. Frequencies were chosen such that they don't interfere with any used by Air Traffic Control.
