Scotland’s only black and minority-ethnic housing association could fold unless Communities Scotland gives it an extra £60,000.
Access Apna Ghar was launched in 2002 with £90,000 of seedcorn funding. It now needs more cash so it can register as a social landlord – which it must do before it starts work on a £1.5m-a-year new-build development programme promised by Glasgow council. However, an association cannot register until it has a revenue stream.

Chief executive Dave Le Sage said: “We are trying to accrue enough stock to write a business plan and we need £60,000 to fund the registration process. We’re having a crunch meeting with Communities Scotland – it’s do or die.”

Access has asked housing organisations for stock transfers but has not been offered any so far.
