A Northern post office has come under fire for serving asylum seekers in a separate queue.
The post office is in Salford – where the local council has just been given 26 recommendations to improve community relations by a scrutiny committee.
The post office said separating the queues speeded up its service.
But some local people complained that the asylum seekers were getting preferential treatment.
A spokesman for the Post Office said: "We will continue to do this if it helps us deal with the majority of our customers more speedily."
The scrutiny committee's recommendations for the council included joining Refugee Action's Refugees Welcome Here Campaign and employing a senior officer with overall responsibility for asylum seekers and refugees.
