A film crew for ITV news bulletin London Tonight interviews archaeologists examining a Roman road, uncovered during the £28m regeneration of the Beaumont Estate in Leyton, north London.

The thoroughfare is thought to be the London end of a Roman road from Great Dunmow in Essex, which has never before been located.

It lies 1 m beneath the surface of the estate, which is run by London & Quadrant subsidiary Forest Homes.

Archaeologists have just two weeks to excavate the road before it is reburied.
