Consultant RNJ Partnership has been appointed QS and planning supervisor on a new £13m Marie Curie Hospice scheme in Glasgow.

Partner at the Newcastle-based firm Andrew Knowles, said: “We look forward to working with Marie Curie and the rest of the team on such an important development that will provide a state of the art facility which will help to improve the lives of the charity’s patients and their families.”

The new purpose-built hospice will be located at Stobhill hospital replacing the 30 year old existing building which admits over 1,200 patients each year.

The design team includes JDDK Architects, BDN has been appointed structural engineers and DTA Associates is service engineers. Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed as contractor for the scheme.

The bespoke three-tiered design, which responds to the slope of the site’s landscape, is easily approachable with direct access via an entrance atrium at level 0 to day care services, café style dining facilities and services which require access by patients and visitors.

The scheme is expected to begin on site in March 2007.
