This £15.5m new library at Glasgow Caledonian University won an RIBA Award last week.

The Saltire Centre was praised for creating a focus for students and for adding "drama and spatial excitement at a cross roads between existing buildings". "The building is a dynamic spatial experience," the judges added. The project team was led by architect, lighting engineer and acoustic consultant BDP, and included cost consultant CBA, project manager Gleeds, contractor Balfour Beatty and planning supervisor Beattie Watkinson.
