Tony Soares' suggestion that tenants should be moved on as soon as they are financially stable, leaving their home for someone "more deserving" (26 March, page 27) would only add to the situation created by our crazy benefits system, which ensures that a large section of the community is better off not going to work.

If someone is given a house or flat because they are a "deserving case", what would be the incentive for them to put their lives back on track if it would only mean they would be asked to leave in three years' time.
