Body chosen for stationary refrigeration and air conditioning (SRAC) certification

REFCOM has been named by DEFRA as the UK’s mandatory F-Gas certification body for the stationary refrigeration and air conditioning (SRAC) sector.

From 4 July 2009, only firms registered with REFCOM will be in compliance with European Commission F-Gas Regulation No 842/2006 as businesses who demonstrate competent and safe handling of fluorinated gases.

Firms will have until 4 July 2009 to attain at least interim certification, and full certification must be achieved by July 2011. Certificates will be valid for at least three years.

The new legislation – The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (FGG) Regulations 2009 – comes into force on 9 March 2009.
