RAINBOW CCTV'S 8.5-85 MM VARIFOCAL LENSES have been installed for long-range observations at Marine Terminals in the Port of Dublin. The units are being used at the ‘lift on/lift off' container section of the docks complex at Dublin Bay, assisting the client - Marine Terminals Limited - to comply with the increasingly rigorous homeland security requirements of the International Ship and Port Facilities Security Code.

Dublin docks - at 1,300 acres the largest in Ireland - is situated at the mouth of the River Liffey and caters for all shipping modes. A new river berth for containers was completed back in 2004, and there has recently been significant landscaping work during the port's northern shore. The ferry terminals are the busiest in Ireland, with 18 sailings daily to the UK and the continent.

For their part, the Rainbow lenses are more correctly referred to as vari-zoom. They afford standard zoom lens performance while offering cost benefits over such solutions. Rainbow's lenses can accommodate varying light levels while yielding added depth and width through focal length variant.
