A unique series of Charters has been developed to ensure residents of registered social landlords such as local authorities and housing associations get the very best customer care during in-occupation window refurbishment schemes.
Devised by one of the UK’s leading specialist public sector window contractors, Radway Door and Windows Ltd., the charters set out the high level of care and consideration that residents will receive.

Even though Radway manages between 30 and 40 large-scale contracts, each in the six or seven figure bracket, at any one time, Sales and Marketing Director John Park-Davies says individual residents’ needs are always high on the agenda.

So the Kömmerling fabricator has introduced a Charter for Working in Occupied Premises. ‘All our on-site employees and supply chain partners ‘sign up’ to the charter as an agreed commitment that whilst working in people’s homes, all care, consideration and respect will be given to the individual residents, causing the absolute minimal disruption.’

In addition, the series of charters sets out the overall principles under which Radway works with clients and the community, to achieve the goal of improving the quality of people’s homes and the residents’ subsequent lifestyle.

The charters cover four aspects of customer care:

  • Resident and community involvement
  • Health, safety, recruitment, training and environment
  • Home and neighbourhood security
  • Total communication

‘It’s not enough simply to install highly-accredited PVC-U windows. Undertaking such major refurbishments is not just a renovation project, but an opportunity to build a strong community spirit which will have a long-lasting impact on the social sustainability of the environment – in line with the Government’s ‘Sustainable Communities: Building for the Future,’ which was launched last year,’ says John Park-Davies.
