A new, fully integrated extension to The Mall shopping centre, Romford, formerly the Dolphin site which has been totally improved and reconfigured includes radar controlled, automatic doors to two entrances manufactured, supplied, installed and commissioned by Structura UK Ltd for Portal Ltd, an architectural glazing systems specialist.

Each entrance (one at Dolphin Approach and one at Mercury Gardens) has three pairs of automatic, inward-opening, swing doors incorporating emergency break-out facility, and hot air curtains above. The doors consist of 12mm laminated glass and frames clad in satin stainless steel, operated by control gear concealed in stainless steel head boxes.

The design and operation of the automatic doors comply with DDA standards and operate to BS 7036 (1996).

Bolted, 10mm clear, toughened, heat-soak tested glass screens measuring 7.6m high x 5.8m wide and mounted on stainless steel castings complete the modern, glazed exterior of the 684 square metre extension which was designed by architects ESA Design Ltd. The main contractor is Carillion.
