11:20AM Strata pen computer gets £100k funding from Partnership Investment Finance

Specialist in hi-tech surveying equipment Strata Software and Consultancy has received a second round of funding from Partnership Investment Finance totalling the figure to £100,000.

PIF’s fund manager Graham Leake said: “We gave Strata an initial £15,000 loan in July, and we’ve been so impressed with the way the company works that we’ve made a further loan of £85,000 available to expand their operations. We want to see local companies develop, and we’re happy to support that development on an ongoing basis if they have a strong enough offering.”

Pen computers allow QSs to write on screen as if they are holding a normal pen; the screen being a handheld device. It is especially useful for those working on-site and in difficult geographical locations where it would be impractical to carry a conventional laptop computer.

The surveying equipment is already marketed in 15 countries, but PIF's fund will allow the firm to target countries like Russia, Australia, Iran and Ghana.
