Salaries for QSs and project managers are booming in the regions, according to a newly published survey.

The consultants salary guide, compiled by recruitment firm Hays and published in full in QS News’ sister title Building, found average salaries jumped by 8% in the south-west of England, with many earning double-digit rises.

At almost every level, QSs and project managers outside the capital are seeing pay packets increase faster than those of their London-based counterparts. In central London, salaries rose between 0% and 4% in the past year, but rises often reached 8, 9 or even 12% in the regions.

Associates, typically aged 38, saw pay increase 4% to £47,000 in central London, but 8% almost everywhere else – and in Wales they increased by 9% to £38,000.

The survey also points to the north-west as salary hotspot.
