Building 300 is architecturally attractive with a glass roof and atrium, but the existing lighting installation did not make the most of its features. At almost six years old, up to 25% of the luminaires were no longer giving optimum performance, providing the opportunity for an upgrade and more energy efficient options.
A trial installation was set up by Philips Lighting Solutions, where it was shown that switching from 100 W SDW-T lamps to Master Colour CDM-T 70 W lamps would produce a 30% lower energy consumption, while giving an overall lumen increase of 37%. The use of these lamps will also give a 50% increase in service life, reducing maintenance costs.
Some 200 lamps were installed in the building following the initial trial. Philips supplied all components including lamp, gear and luminaires.
