Protection for the catwalk labels

Systems from Dedicated Micros HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO SAFEGUARD some of the fashion world’s top designer labels – including Chanel, Dior, Burberry and Versace – as part of a massive security overhaul at one of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) most prestigious department stores.

The Paris Gallery operates 22 stores across the UAE, Saudi and Qatar, and Yassir El Sir – the chain’s security manager – wanted a bespoke security solution. On the advice of Eastern Link Information Technology, he specified the DS2 and BX2 digital recorders, which have been networked to a central point during Phase One of the systems roll-out.

Apparently, the new digital system makes it extremely easy for images of any suspicious activity to be distributed instantly throughout all stores, and to the police via e-mail. In-house pilfering has now decreased markedly, as the recording systems and cameras cover every part of the store.

A bonus for the management is that the CCTV system can also be used to monitor staff performance, particularly during busy periods. Customer behaviour might also be tracked such that the success of in-store or point-of-sale marketing displays may be quantified.
