Espace invader

New from Daitem is Espace, a high quality specification wireless security system with a wide range of technical features and benefits. Daitem says that with no interconnecting wiring, and no mains power required, installation times are cut dramatically with the added benefit of leaving décor intact and no unsightly trunking.

The Grade 2-compliant Espace allows comprehensive intrusion protection of a residence or office, up to eight partitions. Three detection levels are available as standard: external sensors, perimeter doors and windows, and internal motion detectors, with pre-alert or general alarm settings.

A plug-in telephone modem allows remote notification of alarms and events, plus the ability to dial in, check status and even control.

Overbraided flexible conduit

Adding to the range of metallic systems from Adaptaflex is the new, stainless steel overbraid flexible conduit, Type SSB. Designed for use on demanding applications, the system combines a highly flexible, helically wound stainless steel conduit with a stainless steel overbraid said to make it ideal for corrosive environments.

There are five nominal conduit sizes in the range including: 13mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm and 32mm, which use the Type A and Type B straight fittings. These incorporate fixed and swivel external threads respectively.

World's smallest wireless

Axis Communications has launched what it claims is the world's smallest wireless megapixel network camera, the Axis 207MW, a bandwidth efficient MPEG-4 network camera. The company says it is ideal for indoor surveillance and remote monitoring applications, and is especially suited for securing small businesses and homes.

The camera measures in at only 85mm wide. Key features include its megapixel lens with IR cut filter, and simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 for optimised image quality and bandwidth usage. Remote users can also listen in a monitored area through the built in microphone. Quick and easy to configure, it supports both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Height of safety

Chubb Electronic Security has launched a new ladder to ensure the health and safety of its employees working at height.

In line with European Health and Safety legislation and the Working at Height Regulations 2005, the new equipment was developed by Bratts Ladders of Nottingham in consultation with engineers from Chubb Electronic Security.

Lightweight, and easily transported by Chubb engineers on the roof racks of their vans, it is supplied as one piece of equipment with all safety features permanently attached. It includes wheels at the top of the unit for easy extension of the ladder; a levelling system for use on uneven surfaces; a 'multistopper' design to prevent slipping; and a 'V'-shaped section in the centre of the wheel unit for using the ladder against a pole or in a corner, and a rope and cleat to tie it off, where possible.

Easy shunt lock tool

ACT's 10 Minute Shunt Lock is a tool that "does everything quickly and simply for installing a security shunt lock" says the company.

The 950mm long bit drills a 10mm hole through the door for the alarm cable and will not deviate even if it hits a knot in the wood.

It comes with a unique chisel shape cutter that cuts a mortice for the shunt lock and face plate, as well as a self-centring jig that is said to make marking-up easy and a vertical guide for height and depth to stop cut areas from being overrun.

Turn the noise down

Samsung's new SVD-4300 day night dome features Samsung Super Noise Reduction technology, or SSNR, which the company says ensures 'ghost' and smear-free colour images at lighting levels as low as 0.7 lux and monochrome images down to 0.005 lux at F1.8 in Sens-up mode.

With three-axis rotation, the SVD-4300 can deliver high resolution images of distant objects via its 100x zoom capability – a combination of a 10x auto-focus optical zoom lens and 10x digital zoom.

Samsung says it is suitable for both internal and external applications, such as schools, colleges, underpasses, retail stores and warehousing. It is equipped with motion detection, privacy masking, on-screen display and RS-232C remote control.
