Cables and power

Chairman of the board

Moeller Electric’s next generation of moulded case circuit breaker (mccb) panel boards completes the manufacturer’s new range of installer-friendly distribution equipment.

The 400 A, 630 A and 800 A panel boards are available in 6-way and 12-way versions and have been specially developed for the UK market.

Wall-mounted and with Form 2 separation as standard, or Form 3b with additional shrouding, they provide a flexible solution to a wide range of distribution requirements up to 800 A.

Removable top, bottom and side gland plates make access easy, while split neutral and earth bars ensure neater cabling. The mccbs fasten directly onto the board without the need for a kit.

Shrinking violet

3M has expanded its range of Cold Shrink products, which are now available in kit form for a wide range of typical cable jointing and terminating applications, giving installers an all-in-one solution.

The cold shrink products are designed to make connecting medium voltage power cables faster and more reliable. There is no need to apply heat or use specialist tools, which reduces the installation and maintenance costs for cable joints and terminations.

The range of cold shrink kits supports applications up to 46 kV and covers in-line joints, branch joints, loop joints, hybrid joints, terminations, end caps, barrier boots and separable connectors. Any requirements outside the scope of the standard range can be met by products tailored to the individual customer’s needs.

To the poles

Legrand has developed a flexible type B distribution board that can accommodate between one and four pole devices in a variety of configurations, allowing clients to customise boards to meet exact project requirements.

The boards also have flexible connectors that clip directly onto the busbar, and a plug-in system for outgoing devices that requires no tightening of screws onto the busbar. They can accommodate all of Legrand’s Lexic modular mcbs and feature shrouded busbars and neutral bars, shrouded clip-on clear plastic covers and metal or glass doors.
