Home or workplace security

CMS Global Technologies has unveiled a partner project that it expects will "play a valuable part in redefining the way we work and live".

Working with Fonetechnology, a joint venture between Pedagog and Micromark, CMS is assisting in developing IrisTM, a plug and play domestic wireless CCTV camera accessible from a mobile phone.

The Iris system enables the video from a camera in any home – for instance, to check on children – or workplace to be received in real time on a mobile phone.

Each camera is an end-to-end device that can be dialled into by any number of different units. Users can choose to have one camera or several and permit access to the cameras according to need.

Maximum image performance

Avigilon's Performance Surveillance System combines multi-megapixel cameras and lossless compression for "maximum imaging performance".

The digital surveillance system features high-sensitivity Gigabit Ethernet cameras, ranging in resolution from VGA to 11 megapixels, and high-capacity recorders that capture and preserve surveillance evidence using lossless compression.

Avigilon says it delivers "a leap in image quality" because, unlike conventional surveillance systems, each component has been designed to preserve the high-quality footage captured by its high-resolution cameras – unlike conventional systems where a single weak link in a surveillance system irreparably reduces image quality.

'Revolutionary' monitoring

DVTel's Scene Tracker is said to "revolutionise" camera monitoring with a new video suite integrated into the Latitude Network Video Management System.

It provides a "real world" perspective of multiple camera images in a single integrated view.

While traditional video management systems typically provide multiplexed or sequential views "or at best use a mega pixel or panoramic camera," Scene Tracker "allows the world to be seen as the human eye was meant to see it with no limitation of a single camera view".

Objects or people can be tracked, zoomed in on and hovered over for a closer view.

Using technology originally developed for the military and aerospace, it "stitches" scenes from multiple uncorrelated cameras into a single seamless view that permits instant understanding of the composite scene.

Short message away

Europlex Technologies has introduced sigNET – monitoring for a home security system which does not involve an ARC or a voice dialler.

Using similar techniques as a text messaging phone, sigNET provides text messaging over a standard telephone line with the only requirement being a standard telephone line with "Caller-ID" enabled. The method uses existing infrastructure that is available within the property without the issues of mobile phone signal strength and ongoing additional costs of contract SIM cards. It provides a number of filters to allow the system to be configured according to which event types the user would like text messages for. This can range from a standard user event to a panic alarm.
