Mobile access

Hampshire company NCN is distributing a new type of access control system using GSM technology.

These two access control systems use mobile phones to gain access instead of cards or keyfobs.

MD Lee Patterson said: “You simply call the unit from your mobile phone and the output switches for a few seconds. this makes it ideal for controlling gates or barriers or anything else you may want to switch remotely. The system uses caller identification, so no call charges are incurred, and the unit will only respond to authorised numbers.”

Two units are available. The GSMkey can accept up to 10 users and is a viable alternative for remote control of gates or barriers from long range – anywhere you can get a mobile phone signal.

The GSM Smart System can accept up to 1000 users and has online reporting capabilities. All of the functions of this system can be accessed from a remote PC with a modem, so any changes to who is authorised can be made without having to attend site.

Operations manager Heather Hoyle said: “We have had a lot of interest in the new range of products, as people realise that installations can be achieved without having to install all of the cabling normally associated with access control systems and their reader-heads. It also allows vandal-resistant systems to be installed very easily, as there is no equipment to be mounted on the exterior of the property.”

New Bandit unleashed

Bandit UK's new PB 240 version of its Bandit high-density security fogging system has been designed to adapt to best protect the different areas of a building.

Bandit says the PB version's microprocessor allows full connectivity with the user's PC or laptop for flexible control over settings, timings and inputs of the existing Bandit system. It also gives greater flexibility on input connections, allowing the Bandit to work with and enhance other security tools to best suit the building configuration.

“Users can link in the PB version in areas where they have multiple monitoring requirements,” says Bandit's Keith Holland.

"By connecting the Bandit with an alarm system, power system, fire mode and so on, it permits even greater and more efficient coverage of this system, in addition to the rapid firing of fog.

“Other features such as the audio capability mean that the Bandit 240 PB utilises th loud speaker inside the Bandit, assigning a number of various sounds to different input areas to allow the secure segmentation of building locations, secure zones, or areas where a warning announcement would be appropriate.

“The Bandit 240 PB’s event log holds up to 1,000 event activity reports, which can then be downloaded for analysis, looking, for example, at input areas which may be more vulnerable, allowing for even fuller security preparation.”

If required, remote monitoring of the Bandit system is also possible.
