X2 easy
BPT Security Systems' X2 technology promises to transform the wiring and installation of analogue entry control systems across the board.

X2 enables numerous signals such as telephone, audio, video and controls such as door-lock release, stair light, auxiliary service, call-timer, self connection to entry panel and sequential switching to be transmitted on a single non-polarised twisted pair, without any loss of quality.

The ready wired twisted pair can be used to create an intercom system with up to 10 user extensions. A secrecy of speech and privacy of video signal means that conversations in progress from a different extension cannot be intercepted. Up to four entrances and 64 users can be supported by the system. The automatic switching of the monitor means all entrances can be sequenced and the door lock release and auxiliary services controls only affect the entrance selected, assuring unbeatable security.

Guiding principles
Pyronix has designed a range of panels based on four guiding principles. The PCX range has taken the requirements of DD243 compliance, absolute user simplicity, thorough reliability and complete flexibility into account to produce an outstanding product range.

There are three panels in the range. The PCX12, 22 and 44 are fully flexible modular systems for applications in private houses through to high performance industrial and commercial sites.

Each keypad includes an inbuilt proximity reader, which meets the requirements of DD243 and offers intelligent arming when the user presents the card to the keypad.

Pet immune detector
GardTec has expanded its eurosec range of movement detectors with the V40 Pet Immune model. The V40 PIR gives coverage of 12m and incorporates full pet immunity up to 75lb (33kg). It has a microprocessor that has been designed and program-med specifically for those troublesome residential applications with pets.

The eurosec PIRs share a common housing as well as white light protection, selectable pulse count and automatic temperature compensation. The detectors are also available in PIR, Quad and Dual Technology versions.

The eurosec brand now extends to control panels, detectors, accessories and the recently launched XS7 external sounders, available in both single piezo (XS7) and twin piezo (XS7+) versions.

Derby-based Milestone Innovations has developed a GSM signalling unit that can be fitted to any existing alarm system and when triggered, will send a text message to the owner's mobile phone telling them why and when the alarm was triggered.

SMShieldLite is a single enclosed unit measuring no more than 4.5 x 3.4 x 1 inch. It can be easily fitted to existing equipment and has no ongoing monitoring or maintenance fees. It cannot be blockedor have its line cut, unlike other auto-diallers.

SMShieldLite needs a Pay-As-You-Go or contract connection that is available from mobile phone shops. It can work on any network or tariff so that the user can pick their preferred service provider.

Euronova is offering a unique alarm that works in an unusual way to help protect garden sheds. The ShedSitter alarm uses a passive infrared beam to detect thieves. Rather than triggering an alarm, it silently informs the home owner via a small wireless receiver. Ademco Video is offering a global pledge of best price performance with its new Systems range of CCTV cameras.

The range comprises six units and is said to offer a level of features and specification unheard of in their price category.

Most of the units offer the group's 'NVT Onboard' facility, enabling them to link directly with UTP cabling. DIP switches allow easy configuration of these high-sensitivity cameras.

Backlight compensation comes in four or eight windows for maximum image quality in difficult lighting conditions while its DCT (discrete cosine transfer) feature reduces image data size in low light conditions. This gives more efficient use of space on the digital recorder's hard drive, allowing longer recording times.

Rugged and flat
Product Shop International has launched a new range of rugged LCD displays for use in applications such as CCTV monitoring, vehicle-based surveillance and combined PC/video systems.

The range of flat screen LCD displays features five different screen sizes from 6.4 inch to 15.1 inch. An 18.1 inch model is also due to be released by the company.

The range provides a variety of composite, S-Video, VGA, SVGA and XGA inputs and supports both PAL and NTSC standards. All models are suitable for desktop use as well as wall mounting and 19 inch rack mounting.

The range also enables remote control set-up with optional touch-screen capability.

Jet compression
The VideoJet 10 is a networked video encoder from VCS that brings full-motion 25fps video to networked applications previously limited to low frame-rate MJPEG. It offers MPEG4 video with audio for the price of MJPEG.

The VideoJet compresses full-motion 25fps video down to the same data rate used by MJPEG products which manage only a jerky 1-to-4 frames per second.

Video images are transmitted over an IP network and can be viewed on any monitor, recorded and sent to remote locations. High quality images allows the retention of vital details such as sleight of hand, fast moving cars or fleeing suspects without needing higher network bandwidths or bigger disks.

It can transmit both high-quality, full-motion video and bi-directional audio and is ideal for access control applications as well as CCTV and surveillance. Built-in software allows users to view, control and record video and audio at any network-connected PC. A decoder version of the VideoJet10 allows video display on a standard CCTV monitor as well.

The VideoJet10 includes a Compact Flash slot for local video and audio recording. It stores over half and hour of full-motion video on an affordable 128Megabyte card. In alarm handling operations, the Compact Flash card stores pre-alarm video.

Panasonic's WJ-HD200 digital disk recorder incorporates an impressive 120 GB hard disk which allows continuous recording for one week. The unit can also be expanded to 240 GB of hard disk drive storage capacity capturing extensive recordings without the need to change or file video cassettes.
