Further to Pilkington’s announcement of an oil surcharge on deliveries, we have received several formal notifications of price rises from manufacturers.
In last month’s issue, we reported that Kömmerling Chemische Fabrik Gmbh has announced sealants and adhesives price hikes from January.
Wacker Silicones is also increasing sealant production prices worldwide by an average of 15 per cent, and certain segments will experience larger price hikes. The company has also announced rises for other product groups.
DuPont has announced a price increase on all grades of Butacite polyvinyl butyral interlayer from January. Competitors are subject to the same raw material price increases, and are expected to follow suit.
In fact, it’s hard to think of any manufacturers that are shielded from the dramatic rises in raw material, packaging and energy prices currently experienced, and so we expect these announcements to be the tip of the iceberg.
It remains to be seen whether all these increases will be passed on to customers, but it looks extremely likely that many will.
