Industry collaboration has been a strong theme of the ECA's work over the past year. The rewards have been significant for its members and the industry as a whole.
The results include the signing of the Major Projects Agreement, work with BRE Certification and the IEE in the submission of a competent persons' scheme to support the proposed Part P of the Building Regulations, and the collaboration with SELECT, HVCA, APHC, SNIPEF and Amicus for the establishment of the m&e Sector Skills Council – SummitSkills.

In addition, the ECA is working closely with the SEC Group to tackle retentions. It is also working with other organisations to extend the use of the ECS as a pan-industry certification scheme. These include BSIA and BFPSA from the security and fire industries respectively, and the NICEIC to provide a Qualified Supervisors card scheme.

The collaboration has fostered new levels of dialogue and a willingness to work together to find real solutions. Progress is being made, this is the way forward.
