One cannot overstate the importance of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS), which exists to ensure that electricians achieve the highest standards of competency and health and safety – key concerns for our members.
Fully acknowledged by the industry, it is affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and provides employees with the industry credentials that enable them to demonstrate their commitment to high health and safety standards.

The scheme also applies to site and contracts managers, supervisors, ancillary operatives, apprentices, adult trainees, site visitors and other operatives employed in the electrical contracting sector, all of whom will need to demonstrate that they have the necessary level of health and safety awareness before being issued with a card.

Since February, ECS cards are only renewed for those who hold a valid health and safety assessment test, a key component of this certification process being the ability to prove professional competence.

I would like to sincerely congratulate all those who have enthusiastically taken this scheme on board, demonstrating the professionalism of our industry and providing a clear indication of a proper commitment to maintaining the highest standards.
