SIR – AS I HAVE AN INTEREST IN POLICING BY non-Home Office police forces, I thought your Case Study article ‘Vintage Port’ (SMT, July 2003, pp22-27) was an extremely useful discourse on the topic, providing lots of salient background information that would otherwise be extremely hard to find.

Ultimately, I think the piece could have benefited from some kind of critique, but it most certainly serves as a robust account of what is involved in policing a major port.
