This new play area was at the top of a wishlist drawn up by tenants of one of Newbury’s more deprived estates. Now, a £35,000 makeover for the Dickens Walk estate has fulfilled that desire. The facelift of the 1970s estate was carried out by Sovereign Housing Association, Thames Valley Police and Newbury council. Mike Rodger, the mayor of Newbury, attended the opening of the scheme last Saturday.
