Peter Redman has been appointed interim managing director of Birmingham-based landlord FCH Housing & Care, less than three months after he resigned from one of London's largest registered social landlords.
The former chief executive of Notting Hill Housing Group has been appointed to assist FCH in its negotiations to merge with a national registered social landlord. But he refused to say which RSL was involved.

Redman stepped down last October after 10 years in charge of Notting Hill following a highly critical Audit Commission report (HT 7 October 2003, page 7). The report said the association showed "scope for considerable improvement in lettings, repairs and maintenance … asset management and payments to contractors".

Redman said he would stay with FCH until it found a permanent managing director: "It could take up to three or four months.

"I'm really pleased to be back, and working with such a great bunch of people. It makes a nice change."

FCH manages 4000 homes across the Midlands and has a £20m annual turnover.

Redman said he was still looking for a permanent chief executive role at a housing association in the south of England.
