Perry's visit has been scheduled for some months, but in light of recent events, the corporation has confirmed that salaries are likely to be discussed.
Perry, understood to oppose large pay packets, will deliver a presentation on why associations are regulated and the board's duty to ensure effective performance.
Bennett took home a 23% pay rise plus a £65,000 relocation package – but was not the only boss to receive a hefty salary hike last year. Peabody chief executive Richard McCarthy got a total £183,544 – a 34% rise on 2001/2. Deborah Shackleton, chief executive of Riverside Housing Group, pocketed £155,445 including pension and benefits – a 24% rise. Don Wood, chief executive of London & Quadrant, took home £151,620 – an 18% rise. And Knowsley council has come under fire for awarding senior officers a 15% rise when staff got just 3.5%.
